(1st Jan 2023) You are desperate at the moment.

It’s the end of yet another year, and you feel no closer to the goal you had set at the start of the year.

10 Months of 2022, and you were in a relaxed state, enjoying the tv, Facebook, Youtube, cricket, and every other thing apart from your goal.

8 months of 2022, and you were having sudden thoughts popping to your mind about your goal, parallelly you skimmed through a few Fb posts and the thoughts are gone.

6 months of 2022 had passed and the goal you had set had moved to the background as you were busy coping with the urgencies.

4 Months of 2022 had passed and you began doubting whether the actions you have been taking out will ever take you to your goal. You find yourself at the start and mountain of action to accomplish ahead.

3 Months of 2022 and you were whole-heartedly into the action every day. So many interests started peeking in. You wanted to improve in every aspect.

2 Months had passed, and you came up with a few things you could learn and enhance yourself.

A month had passed so quickly, and you were still unclear about the actions that would carry you towards your goal.

(1st Jan 2022) You were desperate at the moment.

Why have you been failing in the accomplishment of your goals?

Having a goal is only a part of the journey. Not breaking down the goal into tasks that can be completed in the allotted time is one of the reasons people don’t accomplish their goals.

You sit to do the tasks and you wonder for around 5 minutes or so because of not having the clarity of tasks you would be taking. You will for sure get distracted and start doing the activities apart from the tasks at hand. And if this happens for a few days, you would lose all the motivation to work.

If you just start randomly for the set of setting a goal and start taking actions haphazardly, you would not have enough motivation to get going to the end as you would find lost here and there without a true set of actions. This could be yet another reason you have been failing.

Achieving any goal requires a serious level of commitment. So, if you don’t have any hard reasons to pursue the goal till it’s accomplished, failure is certain.

The thoughts that play around saying the accomplishment of this goal will take so much time, it would be full of challenges and struggles are so demoralizing that they take our goal away from us.

We have many sub-goals. They aren’t the things we are pursuing, they don’t mean much to us. So, if we get busy in the sub-goals and forget why we had actually started working towards the goal, it won’t take a long time before we give up. Never forget why you started. Have the system in place to remind you of the same.

Dreams are beautiful, goals are beautiful too. So why don’t we just chase them?

Dreams are beautiful. Moving a step further, goals are beautiful too. But the actions one needs to perform every single day to get to the goal is a challenge for every one of us.

We won’t just have the motivation to sit and get going with our tasks every single day.

They aren’t instantaneous. We would rather choose to feel better now than to perform actions that challenge us at every step.

The Solution

We can build a system wherein we would be putting something that we value most at stake if the tasks aren’t performed, i.e. our ‘identity’ about ourselves.

Humans can go heights to protect their identity, so our tasks toward the goal would be minuscule things for us to perform when our identity is at stake.

If you never share your goals with other people because of fear of being called a bluffer and loser, when you fail to achieve the goal. You can be sure that you want to be identified yourself as a hard worker and a winner.

Don’t assume everyone will feel this need. Just think of people who keep bluffing around all day.

It may be counter-intuitive but you can help yourself by having people around you who pull your legs when you are not moving towards your goals.

We only took one identity here. We have so many identities about ourselves and we feel the innate need to protect them as we protect our bodies from physical pain.

If you find yourself being defensive around any subject during the conversation, it could be your other identity, that you can put at stake and use as fuel, when on a mission to accomplish your next goal.

The System and its ingredients

Do you wonder how some people can do so many things? Here is how they have been doing.

Accomplishing a goal is the trait a person develops with practice, just like any other skill, since they have developed the trait they can march towards any attainable goal.

Here is how you could do it too.

Start with an easy goal, march towards it every single day till it is achieved, and you would have a few lessons learned along the way, such as;

-booking of time in your daily doings, specifically and strictly for moving towards the goal.

-how the random events peck in and distract you.

-the willpower required to start the action every day.

-optimizing your actions as you move towards the goal.

Choose a goal that seems a little harder than earlier and repeat the step. Journal your learnings. So it’s handy when you are moving toward another goal with more challenges.

Don’t choose financial goals or wake-up early goals, you would have too many things to track, and you would probably fail in the first attempt.

Once the traits required to achieve the goal get inhabited and then you set a new goal you would feel as if you know already know so many things to achieve the goal. This is the manifestation. This is the moment we would love to experience always. This is the moment with the feeling we could achieve any attainable goal.

Setting and accomplishing the goals is the system in itself to make sure we always have the feeling of growth in us. This feeling is quite motivating which further endorses us to take on innovative ventures in life. Stagnancy is not the natural state we want to be in. We strive for change, we strive for growth.

Knowing and doing are quite different. Hence, once you decide to implement the same in your life, you have to adjust it to your current lifestyle. It is easy for us to follow the new practice only if that practice is somehow brought into our daily way of doing. How much ever we promise ourselves if we fail to put the new practice between our regular practices every day, it will be a huge struggle to bring the practice into our life.

How do you actually do it? An example:

The motivated you set a goal that you would be exercising for 30 mins every day. Just start thinking of how you could do that every day. You can think of doing it immediately after you reach home from the office. Going into detail, you can plan of taking a brisk walk to a nearby playground and do some stretching. On the second day, you probably could jog around the playground and continue with some light stretching. On the third day, you could include light running and jumping, stretching, probably you can join other people whom you could find playing football or some other sport. And this is how you have successfully put the practice you desired into your life.

Now you have the technique, implement the same and be unstoppable.

The goal would seem far. You would feel to give up every single day. Obstacles come along the way, making you feel that you would never reach your goal, how much ever you try. Every sort of emotion appears along the way, sometimes these emotions take you to your high while at other times they bring you down.

If an individual is accomplishing some goals in his journey, he is showing some kind of growth. This further motivates him to dream big and accomplish more. This is how the process keeps going.

I did tried out to answer the following in this article:

What are the ingredients for achieving your goal?

How to allot time to your goals every single day?

How to make sure you are not missing your contributions toward the goal?

Why do we have so many goals that are still on our list for a long time and yet not been achieved?

Why path towards the goal isn’t a linear path?

Above all, never forget every people around have some big dreams, they may be having that same burning desire as ours but only an individual with a system wherein he is automatically required to put in the effort to do the tasks today that moves a step further towards his/ her goal will only achieve his big dreams.
